In his pathetic pursuit of young
maidservants Signor Pantalone often mistakes his prowess for the
money purse dangling from his belt (inevitably it is the latter
that is spent!). Repesenting the folly of old age, Signor Pantalone
is joined in Newman's world by Signora Pantalona.
